About Coin

History

Building on the success of the LION local investing network established and growing in East Jefferson County – one of the first and most successful in the nation – several business organizations, investors, and interested stakeholders in Clallam County worked together in 2021 to establish COIN to support investment opportunities and provide more funding options for entrepreneurs on the North Olympic Peninsula.  Led by the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce, the effort to establish COIN was supported by the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE), the North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation & Development Council (NODC), Jefferson County’s Local Investment Opportunities Network (LION), the Clallam County Economic Development Council (EDC), the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and CRAFT 3.

About COIN

The Clallam Opportunity Investment Network (COIN) is a loosely organized group of people on the North Olympic Peninsula whose shared goal is to pair local investors who want to support their community together with local entrepreneurs who are in need of resources in order to achieve their business plans and aspirations.  COIN fosters the general vitality and strength of the local business economy in Clallam County by providing information and services to local investors and entrepreneurs.  COIN is not a loan or investment fund – it is a network, but it does not make collective investment decisions.  Our membership consists of local citizens who support local businesses and invest their money locally.  Keeping funds local facilitates greater economic self-sufficiency, job growth, economic development, and a dollar-multiplier effect whereby a dollar kept within the community can be spent many times over for a far greater benefit than a dollar invested away from our community.  There are no fees related to membership in COIN, but membership is required to gain access to key information and to participate in a variety of presentation and networking sessions.  Any financial relationship that may or may not develop between members of COIN is done on their own behalf and is not a part of COIN, nor do those resulting relationships include or involve COIN.

Mission

The mission of COIN is to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs and investors to connect with each other for their mutual benefit, as well as to foster the general vitality and strength of the local business economy in Clallam County.

Our Network

We are a loosely organized group of local entrepreneurs and investors who consider opportunities to support each other and who occasionally meet to share ideas and opportunities.
